Justin BieberJournals , Purpose
Justin and his team desired the digital release of his album, Journals, to be designed in a vector style, with each song on this compilation album utilizing its own vector icon. So, we came up with 15 icons for 15 songs. Because purple is Justin’s favorite color, we implemented a light-to-dark gradient throughout. The result? A consistent look and feel containing 15 separate song identities.
Working closely with Justin Bieber and his team, I helped brand the Purpose album. Justin expressed how he was inspired by the script-styled handwriting element of Drake’s If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late talcum cover, so we set out to create a unique look with similar impact. After establishing a style guide, we spread our look and feel amongst the album and some singles covers. Though Justin’s team decided to go in a different direction regarding the Purpose album cover, they did keep the branding we originally designed for their digital banners.
